Youth Program Manager
Position Description
The Youth Program Manager has the primary responsibility for designing, coordinating and implementing the Teen Court, Tobacco Court, Youth as Resources, Juvenile Prime for Life, and The Lab programs of the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau. The programs are intended to provide positive, hands-on learning opportunities for youth. The Youth Program Manager (Manager) reports directly to the Executive Director (Director). The position is a non-exempt salaried position.
With regard to Teen Court, the Manager is responsible for:
· Working to develop and maintain relationships with agency partners who refer cases to Teen Court including but not limited to the Probation Department and school administrators.
· Receiving and evaluating referred cases and scheduling them for disposition in a timely manner.
· Facilitate all Teen Court sessions.
· Complete all intake and exit interviews.
· Recruiting, screening, training, and scheduling of the adult and youth volunteers needed to effectively run the program and maintaining a positive relationship with volunteers.
· Maintaining an atmosphere of respect in which learning can take place during program sessions.
· All paper work necessary to efficiently track and process cases from referral through the final report on successful disposition.
· Preparing reports on program activities and measured accomplishments as required by the Executive Director and/or agency partners.
· Tracking an offender’s progress toward completion of their sentence and reporting both positive and negative results to the Director and Probation Department as necessary.
· Data Entry for IYSA/DCS contract requirements.
· Maintain an up to date community service list.
· As part of a team, assist with fundraising and/or community events.
· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
With regard to Tobacco Court the Manager is responsible for:
· Working to develop and maintain relationships with agency partners who refer cases to Tobacco Court including but not limited to the Probation Department and school administrators.
· Receiving and evaluating referred cases and scheduling them for tobacco education groups.
· Scheduling and facilitating all tobacco education groups.
· Completing all intake and exit interviews.
· All paperwork necessary to efficiently track and process cases from referral through the final report on successful disposition.
· Preparing reports on program activities and measured accomplishments as required by the Executive Director and/or agency partners.
With regard to Prime for Life, the Manager is responsible for:
- Completing certification for Juvenile Prime for Life in order to facilitate classes.
- Working to develop and maintain relationships with agency partners who refer cases to Prime for Life, including but not limited to the Probation Department and school administrators.
- Receiving and evaluating referred cases and scheduling them for Prime classes while working closely with the referral source to ensure youth needs are met prior to attending class.
- Scheduling and facilitating all Prime for Life classes.
- Reporting progress updates to referral sources for each youth.
With regard to Youth as Resources, the Manager is responsible for:
- Recruiting and training volunteers needed to effectively run the program and maintaining a positive relationship with volunteers.
- Scheduling meetings and events related to the program.
- Coordinating fundraisers to support the Youth as Resources grant making component.
- Marketing and coordinating the application and review process for program grants.
- Measuring and reporting the impact of the program on the direct participants and on the community as a whole.
- Working with the Office Administrator to ensure that all financial policies are followed and that funds are accurately and completely accounted for.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
With regard to The Lab:
- Recruiting volunteers needed to effectively run the program and maintaining a positive relationship with volunteers.
- Scheduling modules for the program and gathering any necessary supplies.
- Marketing and coordinating the registration for each module.
- Completing all intake and exit interviews.
- Coordinate all logistics including maintaining interest from youth, transportation, food preparation, and community connection with potential sponsors or volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Must be willing and able to make effective public presentations about the programs.
- Strong communications skills; both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work with diverse populations.
- Must be able to motivate participants in a way to maximize the educational benefits of the programs.
- Must be well organized to develop, implement, track the progress of, and make improvements to programs to maximize their effectiveness.
- At all times, must be able to keep information about the program and participants confidential.
- College Degree and/or experience in related field required.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
