Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you can apply your technical accounting skills while contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Conduct financial analysis and cash flow analysis to support decision-making.
Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate bookkeeping records.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other relevant accounting standards.
Collaborate with internal teams on financial report writing and interpretation.
Provide mentoring and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Support auditing processes by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for various accounting functions.

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles.
Knowledge of corporate finance, financial management, and regulatory reporting.
Experience in public accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus.
Familiarity with securities law, wills, trusts & estate law, governmental accounting, and private equity is advantageous.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
