POSITION SUMMARY
The Adjunct Faculty Member at Pierce Mortuary Colleges is responsible for providing and sustaining an effective learning environment for every student through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation and feedback on student progress, and support of academic success for all students. The Adjunct Faculty member is expected to deliver high-quality instruction in assigned science courses while maintaining institutional standards and fostering student engagement and retention. Teaching Availability: Adjunct faculty must be available to teach on-campus classes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Thursday, based on assigned course schedules and institutional needs.
Courses taught by Adjunct Faculty must meet a minimum enrollment to receive the full compensation of $850 per credit hour. Enrollment below the required minimum will result in proration of compensation.

The Adjunct Faculty works under the guidance and supervision of the Academic Dean.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaches the depth and scope of course material as outlined in the approved syllabus, catalog, and institutional curriculum for assigned science courses.
- Provides engaging classroom instruction utilizing current scientific principles, instructional methodologies, and appropriate practices.
- Prepares and grades examinations, assignments, and other assessments based upon course objectives and published exam schedules. Standardized assessments may be required for midterm and final evaluation purposes.
- Provides grades to all students within established institutional timeframes.
- Implements evaluation methods for outcomes assessment and achieves established learning outcomes while maintaining college standards of student satisfaction. Provides substantive and timely feedback to students on assignments.
- Works creatively in all classes taught to discourage student withdrawal and maintain satisfactory retention.
- Begins and ends each class at the designated times, providing a full instructional period.
- Provides tutorial assistance to students when needed.
- Maintains classrooms in a clean, organized, safe, and orderly condition for the next user.
- Submits final grades for all students by designated deadlines.
- Accurately maintains attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy, maintains separate records of attendance and grades, and posts required documentation electronically at the end of the term.
- Contacts students who are absent and submits written reports of pertinent information to the Academic Dean.
- Hosts at least one office hour each week.
- Attends faculty meetings, in-service meetings, professional development sessions, or reviews recorded sessions as required.
- Dresses professionally in accordance with the faculty dress code.

- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR SCIENCE COURSES
- Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or another closely related scientific discipline from a regionally accredited college or university; or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR SCIENCE COURSES
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferred.
- Two years of professional experience in a scientific or healthcare-related field preferred.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems and instructional technology.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and instructional methodologies.
- Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and exercise sound professional judgment regarding sensitive and confidential matters.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of college-level science curriculum and instructional methods.
- Teaching, facilitation, and classroom management skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply current educational methodologies and technologies.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, maintain academic records, and prepare reports.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and classroom technology.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
- Work is normally performed in classrooms and office environments.
- Moderate physical effort, including standing for extended periods, and handling instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
