Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all production activities related to contract packaging, hand assembly, kitting, sample fulfillment, and value-added manufacturing services. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and according to customer quality standards. The Production Manager leads supervisors and production personnel while driving continuous improvement, productivity, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Key Responsabilities Operations Management
- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily production activities across contract packaging, hand assembly, kitting, rework, labeling, and sample fulfillment operations.
- Ensure all customer orders are completed accurately and delivered on time.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing and resources to meet changing customer requirements.
- Coordinate workflow between receiving, inventory, production, quality, and shipping departments.
- Manage multiple customer projects simultaneously while maintaining efficiency and quality standards.
- Establish production priorities and communicate expectations across teams.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors, team leads, and hourly employees.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Create a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Manage workforce planning, staffing levels, scheduling, and overtime requirements.
- Support employee training and cross-training initiatives to improve operational flexibility.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all packaging and assembly operations comply with customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Partner with Quality personnel to investigate defects, implement corrective actions, and reduce errors.
- Maintain documentation and quality records required by customers and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor production metrics including accuracy, scrap rates, rework, and customer complaints.
Customer & Project Management
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Project Management teams to review customer requirements and timelines.
- Participate in project launch meetings and operational planning discussions.
- Address customer concerns and implement solutions that improve service levels.
- Ensure production readiness for new product launches, packaging changes, and promotional programs.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee inventory movement and material availability for production schedules.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and control of customer-owned inventory and finished goods.
- Work with Purchasing and Warehouse teams to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
- Monitor material usage and reduce waste.
Process Improvement
- Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze production data and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive initiatives focused on labor productivity, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and facility inspections.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, customer requirements, and company operating procedures.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment using 5S and best practices.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience
- 5+ years of production or operations management experience in contract packaging, hard and soft surface assembly, fulfillment, display assembly, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience managing labor-intensive production environments.
- Proven success leading teams of 25-100+ employees.
- Experience with kitting, promotional packaging, sample fulfillment, rework, hand assembly, or value-added services preferred.
- Experience with MRP, WMS.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse and production environment.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
