Full Job Description

Title Clerk
Pay: $24–$25 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Title Clerk to join our growing automotive team. The ideal candidate will have experience handling both retail and wholesale vehicle title processing for in-state and out-of-state transactions while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of all paperwork.

This role also supports administrative operations, including tag refund processing, record maintenance, and coordination of office and facility-related tasks. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced dealership environment and possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Process retail vehicle title and registration transactions for both in-state and out-of-state customers.
Process wholesale title work and related documentation accurately and efficiently.
Verify title documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state regulations.
Prepare and submit title applications, registrations, transfers, and supporting documentation.
Track title status and follow up on outstanding title issues.
Maintain accurate records of all title and registration transactions.
Review sales contracts and supporting paperwork to ensure proper documentation.
Communicate with customers, lenders, dealerships, auction houses, and government agencies regarding title matters.
Resolve title discrepancies and obtain missing documentation as needed.
Process and issue tag refund checks accurately and in a timely manner.
Reconcile title-related fees and maintain supporting documentation for accounting purposes.
Coordinate and maintain office and facility cleaning schedules to support a professional work environment.
Assist with general administrative and clerical duties as needed.
Ensure compliance with DMV, state, federal, and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Previous Title Clerk experience required; automotive dealership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of retail and wholesale title processing procedures.
Knowledge of in-state and out-of-state title processing requirements.
Familiarity with DMV regulations, title procedures, and vehicle registration processes.
Experience handling refund checks, reconciliations, or accounting-related tasks is a plus.
CDK experience is a significant plus.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Experience

Automotive dealership experience.
Experience processing retail and wholesale title work across multiple states.
Working knowledge of electronic title and registration systems.
Experience coordinating administrative office operations and vendor schedules.
