Full Job Description

Overview

The objective of the Executive Director (ED) is to support and further the mission and core values of St. Joseph’s Food Program (SJFP) by overseeing each area of the program, strategic planning, policies, and procedures to ensure appropriate service delivery. The ED is the chief operations executive and serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors and as a liaison between SJFP staff and the Board. The ED is responsible for procuring funding for the organization; financial and program management and planning; and establishing and fostering relationships in the community and garnering public support for the mission of the SJFP organization.

Organizational Leadership and Strategy:

Development and implementation SJFP’s Strategic Plan translating the mission and vision into actionable goals and outcomes with oversight from the SJFP Board.
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
Leads ongoing development of Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans for SJFP, and assessing ongoing preparedness.
Consults daily and collaborates with the Director of Operations, maintaining consistent communication relative to current inventory and capacity planning with donations, staffing (direct and indirect), workflow, safety, facility, transportation, fulfillment and service issues, while ensuring operational decisions align with SJFP organizational priorities.
Attract, hire and lead overall staff performance, development and engagement.

Program Oversight & Impact:

Foster innovation and continuous improvement across all program areas.
Oversee the design, implementation, after action reviews, and evaluation of SJFP’s programming
Lead creation, oversight, engagement and development of Board agenda and Board events.

Financial Management and Fundraising:

Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board.
Ensure sound financial controls and long-term financial sustainability.
Responsible for the oversight and preparation of the annual compliance audit, including action plans and follow-through on any opportunistic areas for improvement.
Provide leadership and oversight to staff on the cadence of fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and events.
Provide ongoing cultivation of relationships with donors, funders, and philanthropic partners.
Responsible for end-to-end payroll processing review and approval of work performed by SJFP Business Manager.
Leads oversight of Property and Casualty Insurance reviews and related requests for proposals in partnership with SJFP Business Manager.

External Relations & Advocacy:

Proactively build strong relationships with current and prospective community partners, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
Enhance the SJFP’s visibility, credibility, and reputation in the communities served and supported.
Oversight of all staff positions and activities.
Lead regularly scheduled staff and leadership meetings to engage in collaborative dialogue, problem solving, and explore perspectives on SJFP trending needs and priorities.
Assure staff (direct and indirect) coverage for all hours of operation.
Conduct annual staff reviews and provide feedback and coaching regularly throughout the year.
Oversight of all programs.
Set and monitor budget.
Partner effectively with the Board of Directors in governance and strategic planning.
Complete monthly and annual reports for Board of Directors.
Partner with other pantries and organizations as appropriate.
Attend SJFP Committee and Board meetings.
Partner with Director of Operations in oversight of maintenance with trucks, equipment, building and grounds, partnering with additional internal and external individuals as appropriate.
Collaborates with Development Director in fundraising and public relations, including ability to lead grant writing as needed.
Consult with the Business Manager regarding financial aspects of the program.
Attend community nonprofit meetings, seminars, and networking events.
Assist staff in completion of tasks as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Skills

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (i.e. Non-profit Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration).
Minimum of 5 years of experience fundraising within a nonprofit strongly preferred,
Non-profit certifications a plus: Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP), Nonprofit Management Certificate, Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), or a Nonprofit Management Certificate.
Demonstrated experience in public speaking and networking.
Track record of success in orchestrating planned events and cultivating major gifts.
High level of initiative, resourcefulness, creativity, and organizational strategic leadership. Including but not limited to: working knowledge of creating strategies and project plans, developing action items, delegating work, and managing multiple timelines.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to articulate thoughts, express ideas effectively to multiple audiences, and read a room, as well as to listen for meaning and understanding.
Experienced in navigating complex situations with professionalism, sound judgment, along with a high level of emotional intelligence, and a bias toward a growth mindset as a leader.
Capacity to manage colleagues in ways that build healthy, productive, collaborative working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to lead thoughtfully through organizational transition while protecting SJFP’s model for integrity and long-term sustainability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Ability to hire, manage, lead, and coach staff members to achieve desired outcomes.

Pay: $93,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
