Responsibilities:
Instructors are responsible for teaching courses in a variety of modalities while promoting and supporting the vision and mission of Rasmussen University. Instructors will generally teach 4.5-5.5 work units each quarter equaling a full-time work schedule.
Faculty in this role will primarily support the School of Nursing's simulation program while also fulfilling faculty responsibilities that promote student success and academic excellence. Key expectations include:
- Deliver high-quality simulation-based instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies, debriefing techniques, and multiple instructional methods that foster critical thinking, clinical judgment, and a safe learning environment.
- Plan, facilitate, and evaluate simulation experiences that align with course outcomes, program objectives, and best practices in simulation education.
- Create high levels of student engagement through simulation activities, scenario-based learning, community building, and student-centered instruction, including the use of live classroom technology to support synchronous learning sessions.
- Clarity, relevance, and connection of class session objectives to course performance
- Organized classroom and efficient use of class
- Demonstrate mastery and ability to articulate and relate to students.
- Play an integral role in the development and implementation of curriculum and assessment for their area of expertise
- Faculty are responsible for creating a classroom presence in support of students in collaboration with their Dean.
- Student support and outreach that supports the success of students is accomplished through faculty availability to students in all courses through synchronous or asynchronous communication and meetings to help students achieve the learning objectives for their course(s).
- Faculty will attend events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as agreed upon and or designated by the Dean.
Reporting Relationships:
The Instructor reports to the Nursing Administrator. Based on the location this may be an Area Dena of Nursing or Dean of Nursing.
Academic and Clinical Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Nursing is required. Rasmussen University follows the requirements set by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, and the states in which the campuses operate.
- Active Illinois RN license that has never been encumbered
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry/ICU, at least 1 year teaching experience preferred
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Active CPR certification administered by either the American Heart Association or The American Red Cross
- 1 year clinical experience as an RN required, 2+ years preferred
- Previous teaching/training experience preferred
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and leadership abilities.
- Proof of professional licenses/certifications, official transcripts for each degree earned from an accredited institution and applicable faculty immunization documentation required.

Our defined compensation structure is market competitive and is built to reward performance. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $69,400.00 to $93,700.00. We take a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including but not limited to: job and level hired into, location, skill set; experience and training; peer compensation and other business and organizational needs. This range is subject to change.
