About Decision Tactical
Decision Tactical is a unique, fast-paced organization in Sanford, Florida that combines tactical and firearms training, immersive simulation experiences, restaurant and bar operations, private and corporate events, and training for law enforcement and other public-safety professionals.
Because our business brings together employees from several different industries under one roof, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Part-Time Human Resources Manager who can provide consistent HR leadership, support our managers and employees, and help strengthen our HR processes as we continue to grow.
This is not primarily an administrative HR position. We are looking for someone with strong employee-relations experience, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to independently handle sensitive workplace matters.
What You’ll Do
The HR Manager will serve as the primary HR resource for Decision Tactical and work directly with company leadership, managers, and employees.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers.
- Handle employee-relations concerns, complaints, conflicts, and workplace investigations objectively and professionally.
- Coach managers on communication, leadership, performance management, disciplinary action, and documentation.
- Assist management with corrective actions, performance improvement plans, written warnings, and terminations.
- Maintain and update employee policies, the employee handbook, job descriptions, and HR procedures.
- Ensure personnel files, onboarding documents, I-9s, E-Verify records, and other required employment documentation are properly maintained.
- Oversee and improve employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, Florida, and local employment laws.
- Coordinate workplace harassment, discrimination, and other required or recommended employee and manager training.
- Assist with workers’ compensation claims, unemployment claims, leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations.
- Review HR-related payroll and timekeeping practices for compliance and consistency.
- Support recruiting and hiring when needed, including helping managers develop job descriptions, interview candidates, and follow consistent hiring practices.
- Help establish clear chains of command, management expectations, and consistent HR practices across departments.
- Identify HR risks or inconsistencies and proactively recommend solutions to leadership.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality while ensuring significant employee and compliance concerns are properly escalated.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably as an HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or HR Manager.
- Demonstrated experience independently handling employee-relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and Florida employment laws and HR compliance.
- Experience supporting hourly employees and frontline managers.
- Experience with performance management, disciplinary documentation, terminations, onboarding, and employee complaints.
- Strong written documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to remain neutral, professional, and objective when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations.
- Comfortable advising managers and senior leadership, including respectfully challenging decisions when HR or compliance concerns exist.
- Highly organized and able to operate independently without requiring significant day-to-day supervision.
- Ability to work on-site at our Sanford location approximately 20–25 hours per week.
Preferred:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience working in hospitality, restaurants, entertainment, retail, training, manufacturing, public safety, or another operational/high-turnover environment.
- Experience supporting organizations with multiple departments and a combination of hourly and salaried employees.
- Experience developing or delivering management and workplace training.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, FMLA/leave administration, ADA accommodations, E-Verify, and background-check compliance.
Schedule
This is a part-time, primarily on-site position averaging approximately 20–25 hours per week.
We anticipate establishing a consistent weekly schedule across approximately three days, with some flexibility based on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the business.
Because Decision Tactical operates beyond traditional Monday–Friday office hours, occasional flexibility may be needed to meet with employees or managers who work evenings or weekends.
Compensation
$35–$45 per hour, depending on HR experience, certifications, and qualifications.
