We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Logistics Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our fleet operations, driver scheduling, transportation compliance, and logistics strategy. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of balancing high-level logistics planning with the ability to manage day-to-day operations. The Logistics Operations plays a critical role in ensuring our fleet operates safely, efficiently, within budget, and in full compliance with federal and state regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage daily scheduling of vehicles and drivers, including route assignments, allocation of work hours, overtime management in compliance with DOT regulations, and distribution of schedules to drivers, warehouse, and office personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, IFTA, IRP, and U.S. DOT rules and regulations.
- Compilation of all Federal & State Highway Use tax returns.
- Monitor transportation KPIs, including on-time delivery, fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and labor costs.
- Develop and implement operational improvements to increase productivity and reduce transportation costs.
- Manage transportation budgets and control operating expenses.
- Investigate delivery issues, accidents, customer complaints, and service failures, implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with warehouse, customer service, purchasing, and sales teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Process vehicle, IRP, and insurance registrations and renewals.
- Reconciliation of all drivers’ trip reports to complete monthly and quarterly IFTA and HUT reporting.
- Tracking of expiration dates for all drivers’ DOT Medical Cards and scheduling physical exams through Human Resources in advance of expiration date.
- Supervise fleet drivers by monitoring attendance, timecards, performance, DOT compliance, and adherence to company policies; document performance issues and recommend corrective or disciplinary actions as appropriate.
- Ensure accurate maintenance and auditing of driver logs, trip reports, and transportation records.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard qualified commercial drivers and evaluate independent transportation contractors.
- Scheduling and returning all rental vehicles.
- Compilation and distribution of all paperwork and necessary information to drivers (driving directions, delivery & pick-up schedules, special instructions, etc.)
- Work collaboratively with Fleet Maintenance Manager to ensure all vehicles are in suitable operating condition and meet accepted standards for safe driving on the road including Federal and State inspection certificates and/or licenses.
- Accurate and timely completion of all Fleet Scheduling Manager responsibilities to meet all deadlines.
- Able to work a varied schedule including nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform related duties and responsibilities of this job including occasional lifting up to and over 50 lbs.
- Lead regular driver safety meetings and reinforce company safety initiatives and DOT compliance.
- Work with Office Manager to maintain EZ Pass account.
- Responsible for managing incoming phone calls during evening and weekend hours.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Three years of proven experience as a Logistics Manager or equivalent position required
- Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), fleet management software, or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of GPS fleet tracking and route optimization.
- Experience managing CDL drivers.
- Understanding of OSHA workplace safety standards.
- Experience with cost control, budgeting, and performance metrics.
- Ability to analyze transportation data and prepare operational reports.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of transportation, logistics, or fleet management experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with IFTA, IRP, DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and talk or hear and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. The employee must have the ability to verbally effectively communicate with staff and customers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work on a ladder for an extended period of time. The employee is frequently required to walk and climb or balance and access construction projects where uneven and cluttered conditions may exist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to stay alert and attentive at all times and operate a computer, phone and essential equipment as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
