POSITION SUMMARY:
The Eligibility Interviewer and Medical Interpreter is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring all Caridad Center patient eligibility procedures are followed. The responsibilities of this role include greeting patients, completing the eligibility process in accordance with standard operating procedures, interviewing patients, and inputting medical eligibility information into electronic recording systems. They will additionally assist patients in accordance with center policies ensuring patients receive the best possible service at Caridad Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets patients/visitors and adequately explains the eligibility process according to Medical Clinic guidelines.
- Interviews patients, processes applications, and determines patient eligibility for Caridad Center services.
- Provides eligible patients with HIPAA regulation documentation.
- Obtains and confirms all patient/guardian signatures as required.
- Provides patients with information regarding Patient Rights & Responsibilities.
- Refers patients to the Health Care District or Medicaid, if necessary.
- Refers patients to Front Desk Reception to schedule future appointments.
- Requests and documents copy of patient’s ID, proof of home address, and proof of income in patient’s chart.
- Requests any correlating medical documentation and documents within the patient’s chart.
- Inputs eligibility information into electronic record systems for medical, dental, or vision services.
- Ensures the security, confidentiality, completeness, and accuracy standards of medical record-keeping.
- Interprets patient complaints to attending physicians.
- Interprets physician questions to the patient.
- Interpret patient responses to physicians.
- Interprets physicians’ instructions to patients regarding follow-up care, appointments, medication instructions, etc., as needed.
- Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- 2+ years clerical experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with a team.
- Ability to comply with all HIPPA Regulations.
- Ability to perform work with great attention to detail and accept constructive criticism.
- Ability to manage a flexible work schedule; including Saturdays.
