For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS). These are experienced professionals who provide technical and professional assistance to the Department of Agriculture for the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program.

Benefits: Paid Health Insurance Premium for positions budgeted at 60+ hours per pay period, Accrued Vacation and Sick Leave, Paid Federal Holidays, and optional Vision and Dental Insurance available for positions budgeted at 35+ hours per pay period.

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 year(s) of experience OR BA/BS Degree in Civil Engineering

Valid State Driver?s license
Experience required with Windows, MS Excel
AutoCAD Conservation Desktop, ArcGIS, PowerPoint

Duties:

Works with other disciplines to plan, design, review, and install irrigation and other conservation systems primarily within Mesa, Delta, Garfield and Montrose Counties.

Works with other disciplines to plan, design, review, and install irrigation and other conservation systems primarily within Mesa, Delta, Garfield and Montrose Counties. Assists personnel with field investigations and surveys needed for practice design and implementation and ensures adequacy of the collected data. Develops preliminary and final designs for structures of varying engineering complexity. Designs are checked for ease of construction, availability of materials, and whether structures are adapted to the specific site; requests review and approval at higher levels as needed. Assists in interpreting plans and specifications for contractors, solving problems at local level as to proper interpretation of the plans and specifications. Ensures that procedures and products conform to current service policy and standards. 95%
Completes required training. 5%

Annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
On the job training by NRCS Staff with Job Approval Authority, AgLearn, or NRCS Program and Engineering Manuals and Handbooks
Travel Requirements: Typical travel to and from a project sites occurs within the workday, overnight travel may be scheduled for training, or multiple site visits outside the typical day travel range (approx. 75 miles)
