Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our small team of professionals in the cooperative building materials industry. In this vital role, you will manage day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Familiarity with accruals and the cooperative business model would be very beneficial.

Duties

Record and process all financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations using QuickBooks Online
Prepare journal entries and perform general ledger accounting to ensure accurate financial data entry in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Reconcile balance sheets and perform account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
Manage payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments while adhering to relevant tax regulations and payroll standards
Maintain detailed records of all financial activities, including expense tracking, invoice management, and account reconciliation
Generate financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to support organizational transparency and strategic planning
Assist with budgeting processes and provide support for financial audits or reviews as needed

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with strong familiarity in QuickBooks Online
Solid understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Experience with corporate accounting practices; familiarity with cooperative accounting is a plus
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) for data analysis and report writing
Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting concepts necessary for accurate financial reporting
Ability to perform account reconciliation tasks such as bank reconciliation and account analysis efficiently
Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple accounts accurately
Effective communication skills for collaboration within the team and across departments
