Full Job Description

STS Aerospace in Elmwood Park, NJ is looking for a CNC Machine Programmer to write new programs, improve existing programs and support all CNC Machining activities in the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop production method and material size for new parts. When needed, consult with Machine Shop Supervisor.
When necessary, set up machine and proof program to produce a part for 1st Article Inspection.
Design fixtures and order tools.
Prepare job packets for production. Consisting of Tool lists, set up instructions, bubbled prints, In-process Inspection Sheets.
Provide Job packets to set up person for designated machine.
Safely and efficiently store programs and job packets for future use. Update any revisions.
Trouble shoot problems during the production machining process.
Confer with Machine Shop Supervisor, engineers, production personnel, fellow programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
Takes a proactive approach to continuous improvement including productivity, quality and safety.
Must adhere to Smith’s Values.

Requirements:

Preferred High School/Equivalent or technical school diploma. Related shop courses.
Minimum 5 years hands on machine shop employment.
Minimum 3 years experience required as a programmer.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to follow and communicate written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.
Proficient in the use of CAM software. Mastercam preferred.
Ability to work with vendors for access to newest, most efficient tools.
