SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR & ENGINEER
Starting Salary: $65,000/year + based on experience
3P Processing is seeking a versatile, skilled System Administrator & Engineer to help manage, scale, secure, and optimize our hybrid IT infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role within a collaborative three-person IT department, reporting directly to the on-site IT Manager. The System Administrator & Engineer will share systems and network engineering responsibilities with the IT Manager while taking an active role in daily infrastructure operations, security, new site integrations, and end-user support.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being a technical problem solver and wants exposure to a broad enterprise technology environment rather than being limited to one area of IT.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOREnterprise Cisco & Meraki Network Infrastructure
- Engineer, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure across company locations.
- Support Cisco Meraki MX Firewalls, MS Switches, and MR Wireless Access Points.
- Design and manage site-to-site VPN tunnels, client VPN connections, VLAN routing, subnets, firewall rules, and traffic-shaping policies.
- Maintain and support Cisco VoIP infrastructure, including Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), Unity, and Cisco Jabber.
- Perform proactive network monitoring, bandwidth analysis, hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, and firmware updates.
On-Premises & Cloud Server Infrastructure
- Engineer, optimize, and maintain our VMware vSphere virtualization platform, storage networks, and hybrid server architecture alongside the IT Manager.
- Maintain and manage Exchange Server SE and Exchange Online within a hybrid environment.
- Support infrastructure hosting Microsoft SQL database environments.
- Support Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Omnissa Horizon VDI environments.
- Assist with system patching, operating system upgrades, automated backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Administer and support Veeam Backup & Replication.
Identity & Directory Services
- Manage and maintain a heavily on-premises Active Directory environment.
- Support Domain Controllers, Group Policies (GPOs), DNS, and DHCP.
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity environments.
- Support identity synchronization, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Conditional Access policies.
- Manage Azure subscriptions, virtual networks, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Management
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including:
- Teams
- OneDrive
- SharePoint
- User licensing
- Configure and deploy endpoints using Microsoft Intune.
- Support Windows Autopilot, application packaging, and device compliance policies.
- Deploy and manage thin clients and centralized endpoint policies through IGEL UMS.
Security, Compliance & Physical Systems
- Support and administer CrowdStrike Falcon Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).
- Support email security through Proofpoint Essentials.
- Help maintain security controls and network isolation requirements supporting compliance with:
- NIST SP 800-171
- CMMC
- ITAR
- Assist with physical security technology, including:
- IP surveillance camera networks
- NVRs
- Electronic door access controls
Tier 1–3 End-User Support
This is not an infrastructure-only position. The System Administrator & Engineer will remain actively involved in supporting our employees.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 technical support for on-site and remote employees.
- Sharing helpdesk ticket responsibilities with other members of the IT team.
- Troubleshooting workstation, application, network, account, and infrastructure issues.
- Serving as an escalation resource for more complex network and systems problems.
- Assisting with workstation builds, hardware provisioning, and asset inventory.
- Supporting user onboarding and technology setup.
New Site Integrations & Company Growth
As 3P Processing continues to grow, this position will help support the expansion of our technology infrastructure.
You will work alongside the IT Manager to:
- Assist with onboarding new business locations.
- Acquire and deploy necessary IT hardware.
- Provision Cisco/Meraki networking equipment.
- Assist with network and systems migrations.
- Integrate new locations into the existing IT environment.
- Help ensure infrastructure is scalable, secure, and standardized across company locations.
Documentation
- Maintain system runbooks and technical documentation.
- Create and maintain user guides.
- Document system configurations and procedures.
- Maintain network topology diagrams and other infrastructure documentation.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a strong technical generalist with solid IT fundamentals, resourceful troubleshooting skills, and a desire to continue learning.
You do not need mastery of every specific software or hardware platform in our environment to be a great fit.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in system administration, network support, IT engineering, or a related technical role.
Networking
Strong foundational understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- VLANs
- Subnets
- Routing
- VPNs
- Firewall rules
Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco/Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or HP/Aruba is highly valuable.
Identity & Directory Services
Practical knowledge of:
- Active Directory
- Domain infrastructure
- DNS/DHCP
- Group Policy
- MFA
- SSO
- Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD
Servers & Virtualization
Solid understanding of:
- Windows Server administration
- VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Cloud VMs, or comparable virtualized server environments
End-User Support
- Proven ability and willingness to provide friendly, responsive technical support across Tiers 1–3.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through unfamiliar technical problems.
Scripting & Automation
- Familiarity with PowerShell, command-line tools, or basic scripting concepts used to automate routine administrative tasks.
Security & Compliance
General familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
