Billing Specialist

Full Time

Lakeview Surgery Center – West Des Moines, IA

Lakeview Surgery Center has an opening for a full time Billing Specialist to join our team. Manages the claims process, including accurate and timely claim creation, follow-up, and correspondence with providers, and insurance company inquiries. Assure that payments related to patient services from all sources are recorded and reconciled in a timely manner to maximize revenues.

Duties include but aren’t limited to:

- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies following billing guidelines
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
- Utilize EMR software to track and manage claim status
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing issues in a professional and courteous manner. - Review the monthly aging report, send statements to patients and process accounts in accordance with the credit and collection policies. - Able to fill in and help out as needed in other departments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Medical billing experience required; surgical background experience preferred.
- Must be flexible in hours to provide coverage when needed.
- Able to work in a busy fast paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be organized and able to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of basic medical office billing, medical terminology.
