Experienced Dental Assistant – Pediatrics | Locally Owned Practice | No Weekends

Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry
Fort Walton Beach, Florida

$18.00–$24.00 per hour | Full-Time | Monday–Thursday

Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our Fort Walton Beach clinical team.

Our practice has deep roots in the communities we serve, and our team is focused on providing excellent pediatric dental care in a professional, supportive, and team-oriented environment.

We are looking for someone who understands the pace, expectations, and responsibilities of a busy dental practice and takes pride in providing excellent care to children and their families.

This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking candidates who bring either recent hands-on dental assisting experience or formal dental assisting education/training that provides a strong foundation for the role.

What You’ll Do

Provide chairside assistance during pediatric dental procedures using four-handed dentistry
Prepare and break down treatment rooms efficiently throughout the day
Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with Florida requirements
Maintain proper sterilization and infection-control standards
Support pediatric patients and parents throughout treatment
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Assist with inventory, lab cases, supplies, and daily clinical responsibilities
Anticipate provider needs and help maintain an efficient clinical workflow
Work collaboratively with doctors, assistants, front-office team members, and other practice staff
Help create a welcoming, calm, and positive experience for children and families

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should have either relevant dental assisting experience or recent formal dental assisting education/training.

Our ideal candidate:

Has recent dental assisting experience or has recently completed a dental assisting program
Understands dental terminology, procedures, instruments, sterilization, and clinical workflow
Is dependable and takes attendance and punctuality seriously
Works efficiently without sacrificing patient care or accuracy
Communicates professionally with patients, parents, providers, and coworkers
Is comfortable working in a busy clinical environment
Has a positive, team-oriented attitude
Takes initiative and follows through
Is receptive to feedback and willing to continue learning
Understands that pediatric dentistry requires patience, flexibility, and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents

Strongly Preferred

Pediatric dental assisting experience
Florida Radiography Certification
EFDA Certification
Experience with digital imaging
Experience with electronic dental records

Candidates with dental assisting education but limited professional experience are encouraged to apply if they have a strong clinical foundation and are ready to begin working in a fast-paced pediatric dental environment.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

No weekends.

Sedation days occur approximately one to two times per month and require an early arrival, generally between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Compensation

$18.00–$24.00 per hour, based on relevant dental assisting experience, education, credentials, and qualifications.

Work Environment

This is an in-person clinical position within a busy pediatric dental practice. The role involves frequent interaction with children, parents, providers, and other clinical team members.

Successful team members are able to maintain professionalism, accuracy, patience, and a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods
Ability to move between treatment rooms throughout the workday
Fine motor skills necessary to perform dental assisting duties
Ability to work in close proximity to patients and providers
Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment as needed
