Full Job Description

About Us: We are a Veteran-owned criminal defense law firm based in Detroit, MI, specializing in healthcare related defense cases nationwide. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation to healthcare professionals who are facing legal challenges. Our commitment to serving the healthcare industry is rooted in the values of service, integrity and excellence.

As a rapidly growing firm, we are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. While this is an entry level position, opportunities for growth are available as the firm grows.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as the first interaction point for all incoming calls and in-person visitors. Accept and route incoming firm calls as appropriate.
Own the client intake process from initial inquiry through execution of the engagement agreement, ensuring timely communication, accurate data entry, conflict screening, and transition into firm case management system.
Assist Paralegal team with monitoring electronic filing notifications, distributing important information to attorneys and paralegals and calendaring deadlines and dates for efficient case management.
Assist Paralegal team with proofing of reports, filings, correspondence or memos as requested.
Assist team with creation, organization and maintenance of electronic and physical case files in accordance with firm policies.
Sort and route incoming mail and packages; preparing correspondence for shipment as needed.
Maintain inventory of office supplies and preparing office for in-person meetings
Support attorneys, paralegals and firm leadership with administrative or operational needs to ensure efficient operations of the firm.

Requirements:

2+ years Experience as a Legal Assistant or Receptionist in a fast-paced office environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service mindset with the ability to interact professionally with clients
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong research and analytical skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office required; experience with FileVine, Dropbox and Ring Central preferred but not required.
