Medical Scribe Job Summary

We’re looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented, dependable, and highly organized Medical Scribe to join our team.

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: We are specifically seeking someone looking for a stable, long-term position with consistent weekly availability. Reliability and schedule consistency are extremely important for this role. This position is best suited for someone who can commit to a regular work schedule without frequent or ongoing changes in availability.

Applicants who are currently in school or planning to return to school are welcome to apply; however, your school schedule must not interfere with the required work schedule. We are not looking to regularly adjust work hours around changing class schedules or semester-to-semester availability.

Candidates with previous medical office or healthcare experience will be strongly preferred and given closer consideration. Experience with medical terminology, EHR/EMR systems, patient interaction, medical documentation, chiropractic, pain management, or a similar clinical setting is a major plus.

Multiple Locations

Our practice operates at three locations: Wayne, Dearborn, and Harper Woods. While you may have a primary location, you must be willing and able to work at any of our three locations occasionally when coverage or staffing needs require it. Reliable transportation between locations is important for this position.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can make patients feel comfortable while carefully listening to their concerns. Your primary role will be speaking with patients, gathering detailed information regarding their pain, symptoms, medical history, and current concerns, and creating accurate and comprehensive clinical notes for the physician using our electronic health record (EHR) system.

Strong listening skills, attention to detail, professionalism, reliability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment are essential.

Schedule & Availability Requirements

Must have consistent and dependable weekly availability
Must be seeking a stable, long-term position
Must be able to commit to the agreed-upon work schedule
Frequent changes in availability or scheduling conflicts will not work for this position
School or other commitments must not interfere with the agreed-upon work schedule
Must be willing to work at our Wayne, Dearborn, and Harper Woods locations when needed
Must have reliable transportation

Dependability, punctuality, and attendance are essential requirements of this position

Responsibilities

Speak directly with patients to gather detailed information regarding their symptoms, pain, medical history, treatment progress, and current concerns
Prepare accurate and comprehensive clinical notes for physicians
Document patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR/EMR) system accurately and efficiently
Assist physicians with documenting medical histories, examinations, treatment plans, and follow-up information
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, physicians, and other staff members
Assist with patient and administrative workflows when needed
Maintain organization while managing multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
Complete documentation and assigned responsibilities in a timely manner

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

Previous medical office or healthcare experience strongly preferred
Candidates with a medical or healthcare background will receive closer consideration
Medical scribe, medical assistant, chiropractic, pain management, primary care, specialty clinic, or similar experience is a plus
Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
Strong typing and documentation skills
Excellent listening and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with patients
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a busy clinical environment
Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work well as part of a team
