POSITION: Drug Endangered Children Program Coordinator
POSITION IS SUPERVISED BY: Assistant Director
The Drug Endangered Children (DEC) Program Coordinator is a full-time, in-office position based in Ashland City, Tennessee, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM. The DEC Program Coordinator engages youth, families, law enforcement, schools, and community partners in evidence-based, trauma-informed prevention efforts focused on reducing the impact of substance use on children and families. The DEC Program Coordinator facilitates and coordinates trainings across multiple sectors, supports school-based education and family engagement workshops, facilitates engaging Camp Thrive (a monthly family engagement workshop) activities, and ensures accurate reporting to state and grant funders. This position works collaboratively with coalition staff, partners, and other program coordinators. Some evening and weekend work is required, along with in-state and occasional out-of-state travel. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental.
Salary: $45,000 annually
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, human services, or related field. Relevant leadership experience in an agency providing social services in a community setting could be considered in lieu of formal education.
· Must pass a background check and a drug screen upon initial hire.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally (mileage reimbursed).
· Proficient with Microsoft office suite including knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
· Basic comfort with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X) and digital tools (Canva, Survey Monkey, Wix, Constant Contact).
· Must have strong written and verbal communication skill, able to connect and build relationships with diverse community members and stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate with a team.
· Ability to lift to 45 lbs. for event set up and office needs.
Preferred:
Ø Knowledge of coalitions and population-level behavior change strategies.
Ø Experience with evidence-informed practices, and/or community engagement preferred.
Ø Experience working with youth and families (ex. social work, family resource center etc.)
Duties:
Ø Coordinate and implement all Drug Endangered Children (DEC) program activities to meet grant requirements and support the coalition’s goals for child and family well-being.
Ø Plan, organize, and facilitate trainings on Drug Endangered Children Awareness, Handle With Care, trauma-informed practices, and other cross-disciplinary trainings for law enforcement, first responders, school personnel, treatment providers, and community partners.
Ø Facilitate and coordinate school-based prevention programming and family engagement initiatives, including Strengthening Families, Best Groups, and other evidence-informed programs.
Ø Serve as lead coordinator and facilitator for Camp Thrive, by planning monthly activities, coordinating community partners, managing event logistics, and ensuring follow-up with participating families.
Ø Build positive relationships with youth, families, schools, law enforcement, and community organizations to increase access to prevention resources and supportive services.
Ø Represent the coalition and DEC program at community meetings, trainings, events, and outreach activities.
Ø Develop and deliver outreach materials, presentations, and educational resources to support DEC programming.
Ø Coordinate with other County Drug Endangered Children Coordinators and statewide partners on shared initiatives, best practices, and program development.
Ø Monitor program activities, maintain accurate records, collect required data, and report information into grant reporting systems.
Ø Attend required grantee meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Ø Assist with coalition-wide prevention programming, community events, and projects as needed.
Ø Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director.
