Full Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a High School diploma or GED, with live experience as a client in the juvenile justice, human services, or other related field. A COVER LETTER IS REQUIRED EXPLAINING YOUR LIVED EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. Prior experience in the Wraparound process, as a client, is preferred but not mandatory. Must demonstrate diplomacy in resolving conflicts and integrating perspectives, with an ability to handle escalated situations. Must be able to work constructively as a team, and represent core agency/program values and principles in a variety of settings. Effective communication skills are necessary. Must pass CBI, FBI, and Central Registry checks. Must possess a valid Colorado Drivers License.

Position Description:

The Family Support Partner (FSP) provides peer support to caregivers and youth in the Wraparound process and assists them to successfully engage with the Wraparound process and team members. In general, peer support is defined as using personal and professional life experiences to establish credibility and infuse hope for a better future, to demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and to assist with problem solving, as well as to provide consultation for staff and others to increase awareness and improve the effectiveness of parent-professional partnerships to meet the needs of the families and to maximize parent voice, choice and involvement throughout the process.

Specific Responsibilities:

Utilize personal & professional life experiences to provide peer support to families and caregivers participating in Wraparound.
Provide new families and caregivers with information about the agency and the Wraparound process and procedures, including the FSP role to assist them to successfully engage.
Learn the family’s unique story; Vision, Strengths, Needs, and Culture.
Encourage families to use their voice and strengths to get their needs met.
Actively participate in child and family team (CFT) meetings to ensure access, voice and choice within the Wraparound process.
Meet regularly with youth and families “between meetings” to ensure that the Wraparound process is working for them and to assist in plan implementation.
Serve as a bridge to ensure that family and providers understand each other’s perspective and information.
Provide a consistent source of encouragement and hope.
Provide non-judgmental, unconditional support to families.
Serve as a support to families throughout the Wraparound process as needed.
Offer encouragement in times of crisis.
To advocate on behalf of persons to protect client’s rights. Model effective coping techniques for families.
Produce and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Attend Mission Possible staff meetings, individual and group supervision.
Observe all rules of confidentiality relating to client information, both internally and when dealing with external agencies and/or individuals.
Attend all required training and professional development.
Always maintain professional standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Wraparound coach and/or Executive Director.
