Full Job Description

Grand South is a privately-owned, newly built upscale senior living facility located in Dothan, Alabama. The beautiful, state-of-the-art facility has 80 apartments (40 in the Assisted Living, and 40 Memory Care/SCALF). Grand South endeavors to provide exceptional and compassionate care to the seniors of Houston County and the surrounding area, in a safe and secure environment. Grand South employs compassionate and well-trained staff members that follow a resident-centered approach to care that encourages independence, enables freedom of choice, preserves dignity, celebrates individuality, and nurtures the human spirit. Grand South Senior Living will serve to support its mission by providing outstanding care to the rising number of seniors living in the Dothan area.

Work Hours
5:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
10:00am - 6:00pm Every other Weekend

Activities Assistant Responsibilities

Assist the Activity Director in leading individual and group activities as assigned
Assist the Activity Director in completing, planning and organizing activities for residents
Set-up for activities including the purchase and organization of required supplies for each activity
Escorting residents on outings
Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the activity area and other areas where activities might be held
Prep and independently lead discussion, crafts, social groups and active group games
Function the absence of the Activity Director
Assist with other duties as assigned

Qualifications Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience working with older adults
Flexible to work varied schedule based on special events, emergencies, programs and trips
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact clearly with residents, families, and other employees in person, and by phone or email
Organization skills to keep accurate records and find important information quickly
Time management skills to prioritize and complete a side variety of tasks throughout the day
Patience and listening skills to respond appropriate and interact positively with residents and families
Interpersonal skills to create a pleasant experience for all residents and visitors to Grand South, such as being personable and attentive
Proficiency with general Windows computing and Office 365 applications is preferred
Willingness to learn software to support operations and communications within the facility
Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by administrative and activities staff

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements

Valid Alabama driver's license required
Activity Director Certified (ADC) preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 per hour
