Full Job Description

The Senior Accountant – Cost and Financial Accounting is responsible for supporting the company's cost accounting, financial and accounting functions by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of project costing processes and financial month-end close activities. This position plays a key role in providing cost data and analysis so that management can make informed business decisions and in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and supporting financial analysis. The Senior Accountant works independently while collaborating closely with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to support the Company's financial objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform project cost accounting and project close-out activities.
Perform project and manufacturing cost variance analyses and investigate significant variances.
Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts.
Record cost-related journal entries and month-end adjustments.
Maintain project accruals, including warranty, installation, training, and post-shipment costs.
Assist in maintaining standard material costs within the ERP system.
Review project quotations and contracts for appropriate financial treatment and compliance with accounting requirements
Prepare journal entries and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Maintain the General Ledger and perform account analyses and reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management, the parent company and financial auditors.
Prepare recurring financial reports and schedules.
Maintain fixed asset records and related depreciation schedules.
Prepare and file sales and use tax returns and assist with other regulatory reporting requirements.
Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and schedules.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects.
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
3- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial data analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships across departments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
