Senior Quality Control Inspector – Metal Fabrication
Location: Duluth, GA – Onsite
Type: Permanent / Full-Time
Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 + Bonus Opportunity
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Control Inspector with a strong background in metal fabrication, structural steel, and welding shop environments. This position is responsible for ensuring fabricated structural components and welded assemblies meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes.
Senior Quality Control Inspector – Metal Fabrication
The ideal candidate has spent significant time working in a metal fabrication/welding shop and brings strong hands-on quality control experience. We are specifically seeking experience with structural or heavy metal fabrication rather than primarily pipe, fence, or light sheet metal fabrication.
This is a hands-on role that requires strong inspection skills, attention to detail, technical knowledge of welding and fabrication processes, and the confidence to identify and communicate quality issues directly with production teams and management.
Must-Haves for Senior Quality Control Inspector – Metal Fabrication
- 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, structural inspection, or a closely related environment
- Strong hands-on experience in a metal fabrication/welding shop
- Strong Quality Control / Quality Inspection background within metal fabrication
- Experience inspecting welded assemblies and structural fabricated components
- Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication processes
- Experience performing in-process and final inspections
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, dimensions, and specifications
- Experience verifying dimensional accuracy, fit-up, layout, and workmanship
- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, feeler gauges, and other inspection tools
- Ability to identify, document, and communicate non-conforming materials and workmanship
- Strong understanding of quality documentation and inspection records
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with production personnel and management to resolve quality issues
- Comfortable spending significant time working on the fabrication/shop floor
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces when required
Important: Candidates whose fabrication experience is primarily limited to pipes, fences, or light sheet metal will not be the best fit. We are looking for substantial experience with structural/heavy metal fabrication and welded assemblies.
