Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Switchgear Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical distribution equipment, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear. This role involves working in industrial and utility environments with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of LV/MV/HV switchgear and associated electrical equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot switchgear, breakers, transformers, and control circuits.
Perform electrical testing using equipment such as megohmmeters, DLROs, primary injection units, secondary injection test sets.
Read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation.
Complete detailed service reports, test documentation, and safety paperwork in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards at all times.
Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and team members.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service needs as required.

Requirements

3+ years of experience working with electrical switchgear, breakers, protection and control systems, or related electrical equipment.
Strong understanding of electrical theory and power distribution systems.
Ability to use electrical test equipment and read schematics.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:

Experience with NETA standards or testing procedures (NETA Level II/III certification a plus).
Experience with relay testing software (e.g., Omicron, Doble, Megger).
OSHA 10/30 or NFPA 70E training.
Ability to work legally in the United States.
Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
