Job description:
Software Developer – (WordPress & Internal Systems) Full-Time | Remote | $60,000–$70,000 annually + Benefits
Who We Are:
Brookens Construction isn’t your typical roofing company—we’re a technology-driven construction company that believes great software creates great businesses.
From our sales team to production and accounting, our employees rely on custom-built tools, automations, dashboards, and integrations every day. Instead of forcing our team to work around software limitations, we build solutions that make everyone more efficient.
We’re a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company where ideas quickly become reality. During the winter months, our development team spends much of its time creating new tools and improving existing systems. During our busy season, we shift our focus toward supporting our employees, maintaining our systems, and solving real-world problems that keep the business moving.
You’ll join a close-knit team of developers who enjoy collaborating, learning from one another, and building technology that directly impacts the success of our company.
Who We’re NOT:
If you’re looking to juggle multiple full-time development jobs, work on side consulting projects during business hours, or spend months working on a single isolated project, this probably isn’t the right fit.
Our development team is deeply integrated into the day-to-day operations of the company. Priorities can change quickly, employees depend on us for support, and we work together to solve problems as they arise.
We're looking for someone who wants to be part of a team, takes ownership of their work, enjoys helping others, and is committed to making this their primary full-time role.
Who We Need:
We're looking for a Software Developer who enjoys solving problems just as much as writing code.
You'll work alongside two other developers to build new internal applications, improve existing systems, and support the technology our employees rely on every day. One day you may be building a new feature for one of our internal applications. The next day you might be troubleshooting a WordPress issue, creating a Zapier automation, fixing an API integration, or helping an employee resolve a technical problem.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain internal web applications and tools
- Build and maintain WordPress websites and custom functionality
- Troubleshoot, prioritize, and resolve internal technology support tickets
- Build automations using Zapier and other integration platforms
- Integrate third-party APIs and business systems
- Write clean, organized, and maintainable PHP and JavaScript code
- Collaborate with teammates to design and implement new internal solutions
- Work directly with employees to understand business needs and create practical solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards
- Help maintain development environments and deployment workflows
- Assist with documentation and continuous improvement of internal systems
- Explore new technologies—including AI tools—and help identify opportunities where they can improve our workflows
What You’ll Need:
- 1–3+ years of software development experience (professional or equivalent portfolio/project experience)
- Experience with WordPress development
- Experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience working with MongoDB or other database technologies
- Experience building or maintaining API integrations
- Familiarity with automation platforms such as Zapier
- Basic understanding of Git and version control
- Experience with React is a plus
- Curiosity and excitement for learning new technologies, including AI
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well on a small collaborative team
- A self-motivated attitude with a willingness to jump in wherever needed
What You’ll Get:
- $60,000–$70,000 starting salary (based on experience)
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- 3 Weeks of PTO (2 traditional, 1 floating), paid holidays, plus sick pay
- Fully remote-friendly flexibility with the tools and support you need to thrive
- A collaborative development team where you'll learn from experienced developers
- Opportunities to build meaningful software that directly impacts the business
- A fast-moving environment where your ideas are encouraged and your work makes a difference
