Emergency & Security Control Operator I
$21.60 - $26.40 | In person reporting to Duluth, MN

Serve as a critical first point of contact in the Emergency and Security Operations Center (ESOC), monitoring and coordinating response to security, safety, and emergency events to protect ALLETE’s people, facilities, and essential utility infrastructure. This role provides rapid problem solving, alarm and access support, and clear communication with employees, contractors, emergency responders, and the public to maintain a safe, secure, and reliable operating environment.

What you'll do:

Monitor and initiate response to security and emergency situations reported to the centralized Emergency and Security Operations Center (ESOC) to ensure the reliability and protection of the bulk electric system (generation, transmission, and distribution assets), water treatment plant, operations, and support services personnel and facilities across ALLETE and its subsidiaries.
Work independently for expeditious problem solving ensuring a safe and secure environment to ALLETE employees, tenants, contractors, vendors, guard services, emergency responders (local/county/regional/state law enforcement/fire and EMS) and the general public and by providing accurate information and assistance using telecommunication equipment (telephone, mobile radios, pagers, cellular telephones, etc.).
Provide support, direction, and guidance to assist with corporate-wide facilities alarms (intrusion detection and fire), along with access and egress.
Coordinate emergency response and initiates disaster recovery activities by notifying appropriate personnel and emergency response teams.

What you'll bring:

High school graduate or equivalent.
Two or more years of job-related work experience with security, law enforcement and/or emergency response protocols and processes.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Effective communication and computer skills.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Successfully complete formal position training and certification prior to working the ESOC solo.
Successfully pass a background investigation (PRA).
This position is 24/7 shift work operations.
This position is subject to hearing, vision, and color perception assessment.
Able to obtain and maintain CPR certification and AED training.
This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, and/or aptitude.

Compensation:

The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $21.60 - $26.40. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package, including an Incentive Program, Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance and Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
