RN Clinical Nurse II - Emergency Department

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC and Hillsborough, NC and UNC Health Rex in Holly Springs have opportunities in their Emergency Departments.

Salary Range: RN II $34.22 - $48.38 per hour (Hiring Range)

Incentive: Select positions eligible

Schedule: full-time, 36 hours/week (12hrs x 3 days)

What is the work schedule?

-36 hours per week (considered full time)

-12-hour shifts with current need for night shift

-No rotating shifts

-Weekday and weekends (preferred scheduling)

-No on-call

The Emergency Department is a designated Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center serving as North Carolina's primary referral hospital as well as serving communities in Orange County. The staff collaboratively operate as a unified team across two distinct units- the Main ED (adults) and the Pediatric ED (children)-providing care for patients of all ages from neonates to geriatrics. The UNC Medical Center has a separate, dedicated Psych Emergency Department which works closely with our larger Emergency Department.

UNC Medical Center in Hillsborough

This Emergency Department has been accredited by the American College of Emergency Medicine as a Level 2 Geriatric Emergency Department and was the first in North Carolina to receive this designation. Geriatric Emergency Departments embrace a variety of best practices that address common geriatric issues. Prefer one year of nursing experience in emergency department or critical care/intermediate care. We will provide training to meet individual needs. The staff orientation to the Emergency Department includes both a 1:1 preceptor program and appropriate classes.

The RN assigned to the 16-bed Emergency Department at the Hillsborough Campus delivers direct and indirect care for patients presenting with minor illnesses/ injuries to critical/ trauma injuries. Critical/traumatic injuries may require stabilization and potential transport to the Main ED / Trauma Level 1 Center at UNC Medical Center. This diverse environment in a community hospital setting contributes to a challenging and rewarding clinical environment for nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

UNC Health Rex in Holly Springs

The Rex Holly Springs Hospital Emergency Department provides a full range of emergency care to you and your loved ones. It is home to 24 patient beds, two major resuscitation rooms and a full staff of emergency professionals. If you or your loved one needs a higher level of care, we can arrange a transfer to the right facility.

Shift: 7:00p - 7:00a, rotating weekends and holidays.

Education Requirements:
● Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
● If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
● One (1) year of nursing experience.
