Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant specializing in Oral Surgery, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and surgical outcomes. In this vital role, you will support oral surgeons during complex procedures, manage clinical and administrative tasks, and ensure a safe, efficient environment for both patients and staff. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to a positive patient experience and uphold the highest standards of infection control and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and patient positioning with precision and care
Manage patient intake, including vital signs, medical history updates, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies
Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate diagnostic images while maintaining infection prevention protocols
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure safety and infection control standards are met
Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction, and monitoring patient comfort throughout procedures
Maintain accurate medical documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, including medical coding and dental terminology for procedural accuracy
Support patient management through effective communication, appointment scheduling, and education on post-operative care instructions

Requirements

Proven experience in dental assisting within an oral surgery or general dentistry setting, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred
Knowledge of dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging procedures, and dental sterilization processes
Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies (HIPAA) and healthcare infection prevention and control practices
Ability to perform dental instrument processing accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques
Excellent knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation including 3D scanners and endodontic tools
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
