Full Job Description

About the Role

Martin Tax & Advisory is a CPA firm seeking a detail-oriented, organized Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate brings hands-on bookkeeping experience, a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment. This role is a great fit for someone who takes ownership of their work and enjoys contributing beyond the numbers.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
Process payroll and ensure timely, accurate payroll tax filings
Prepare and file quarterly tax reports and estimated payments
Respond to and resolve notices from the IRS and state taxing authorities
Apply for federal and state identification numbers (EIN, state tax IDs, etc.) on behalf of clients or the firm
Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Support the preparation of financial statements and reports
Provide general office support and assist with additional administrative or accounting tasks as needed
Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and government agencies

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience
Proven experience with payroll processing and payroll tax compliance
Experience preparing and filing quarterly tax returns
Experience resolving IRS/state notices and applying for tax identification numbers
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks experience strongly preferred)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a CPA or public accounting firm
Familiarity with tax preparation software
Notary public certification or willingness to obtain

Compensation

$20–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
