Cabinet Installer
Wood Trends – Lincoln, Nebraska
Full-Time | Pay Based on Experience
Wood Trends is a well-established custom cabinet company serving Lincoln and the surrounding area. We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and detail-oriented Cabinet Installer to join our team.
This is an important position within our company. Our installers are responsible for taking the high-quality cabinetry produced by our shop and completing the final stage of the project in our customers' homes and businesses. The right person takes pride in their work, pays attention to the details, communicates professionally, and understands that a great installation is what brings the entire project together.
We are looking for someone who wants more than just another construction job. We want someone who takes ownership of their work and wants to become an important part of our team.
What You'll Do
As a Cabinet Installer, you will be responsible for the professional installation of custom cabinetry and related components at residential and commercial job sites.
Responsibilities include:
- Install custom kitchen, bathroom, laundry, office, entertainment, and other cabinetry.
- Accurately lay out cabinet locations according to plans and field conditions.
- Install base cabinets, wall cabinets, tall cabinets, panels, fillers, finished ends, moldings, toe kicks, and other trim components.
- Level, plumb, square, shim, secure, and properly align cabinetry.
- Fit cabinets and components to walls, floors, ceilings, and other existing conditions.
- Perform field modifications when necessary to achieve a professional finished installation.
- Install decorative panels, finished backs, appliance panels, crown molding, light rail, fillers, scribes, and other finish components.
- Adjust cabinet doors, hinges, drawer fronts, drawer guides, and hardware for proper alignment and operation.
- Read and understand cabinet drawings, elevations, floor plans, measurements, and installation information.
- Identify potential problems before they become larger installation issues.
- Communicate job-site conditions, missing parts, damaged components, measurement discrepancies, or other concerns to management.
- Protect cabinets, countertops, flooring, walls, appliances, and other finished surfaces while working.
- Keep installation areas clean and organized throughout the project.
- Clean the work area at the completion of the installation.
- Load, unload, transport, and safely handle cabinetry and installation materials.
- Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and installation supplies.
- Follow company quality standards and safe work practices.
- Work professionally around homeowners, contractors, designers, builders, and other trades.
- Complete punch-list items and final adjustments when required.
- Help ensure every project is completed to Wood Trends' quality standards before leaving the job site.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have experience in cabinet installation, finish carpentry, trim carpentry, woodworking, construction, remodeling, or a similar skilled trade.
Strong candidates will have:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good mechanical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure and understand fractions.
- Ability to read cabinet drawings and construction plans.
- Experience using levels, lasers, drills, impact drivers, saws, routers, nailers, and common installation tools.
- Understanding of proper cabinet installation techniques.
- Ability to recognize walls, floors, and ceilings that are out of level, square, or plumb and compensate appropriately.
- Good finish-carpentry skills.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
- Ability to make good decisions in the field.
- Pride in workmanship.
- Dependability and a strong work ethic.
- Good communication skills.
- Professional appearance and behavior while working in customers' homes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Experience
Cabinet installation experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong experience in:
- Finish carpentry
- Trim carpentry
- Residential remodeling
- Custom woodworking
- Millwork installation
- Construction
- General carpentry
A candidate with strong carpentry skills and the right attitude may be trained in our specific cabinet installation methods.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on position and applicants must be able to:
- Regularly lift and carry cabinet components and installation materials.
- Work with another team member to safely move large or heavy cabinets.
- Stand, bend, kneel, reach, and work in various positions throughout the day.
- Safely use ladders and step stools.
- Work inside active residential and commercial construction environments.
- Safely operate power tools and installation equipment.
What We Expect From Our Installers:
Quality
We build custom cabinetry, and our customers expect custom-level workmanship. Installations should be straight, level, properly aligned, securely installed, adjusted correctly, and finished professionally.
Ownership
If something doesn't look right, we expect our installers to recognize it and address it rather than simply move on to the next task.
Problem Solving
Every job site is different. Walls aren't always straight, floors aren't always level, and field conditions don't always match the drawing perfectly. A successful installer needs to be able to evaluate situations and determine the best solution.
Professionalism
Our installers work directly in our customers' homes and represent Wood Trends in the field. Respect for the customer, their property, builders, designers, and other trades is extremely important.
Communication
Problems happen in construction. We expect clear communication when something is missing, damaged, incorrect, or needs to be addressed.
Efficiency
Quality comes first, but our installers are also expected to work efficiently, stay organized, prepare for upcoming work, and keep projects moving forward.

You may be a great fit if you're the type of person who:
- Notices when a 1/16" alignment is wrong.

- Takes care of a customer's home as if it were your own.
- Can look at a problem and figure out a solution.
- Takes pride in standing back at the end of a job and knowing it was installed correctly.
- Can work independently while still being part of a team.
- Shows up when expected and is ready to work.
