Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Assistant with experience in memory care to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will create engaging, meaningful activities tailored to residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory impairments. Your enthusiasm and creativity will help enhance residents’ quality of life by fostering social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in a compassionate environment that values senior care, recreational therapy, and personalized support.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities designed specifically for residents in memory care settings, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and outings
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility support during programs
Collaborate with caregiving staff to develop individualized activity plans that meet each resident’s unique needs and preferences
Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure consistent engagement and participation throughout the day
Use effective communication skills to encourage participation and foster social interactions among residents
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents during activities, promoting a positive and inclusive environment
Maintain detailed records of resident participation, preferences, and progress to inform ongoing care strategies

Experience

Prior experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes with a focus on memory care or senior care is required
Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, and aging issues counseling is essential
Proven skills in event planning, recreational therapy, and working with individuals with disabilities or special needs are highly valued
Experience assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living) within long-term care or home & community care settings is preferred
Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to manage schedules effectively are critical for success in this role
