Are you a leader who knows how to build great teams, deliver exceptional hospitality, and create an experience guests want to come back to?

1917 Lake Wissota is looking for our next General Manager to lead our team and help shape the future of one of Lake Wissota’s premier upscale-casual dining destinations.

This is more than a restaurant management position. We’re looking for a hands-on hospitality leader who can inspire a team, maintain high standards, drive financial performance, and make sure every guest who walks through our doors has an exceptional experience.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality management
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
A hands-on management style and a passion for hospitality
Experience hiring, training, coaching, and developing team members
Strong understanding of restaurant operations and service standards
Ability to manage labor, inventory, purchasing, and other operating costs
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Comfortable working with POS, back-of-house systems, and computer software
Knowledge of food, beverage, and liquor operations
Ability to lead by example and hold yourself and your team accountable

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, and develop the restaurant team
Build a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture
Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing employee development
Hold team members and managers accountable to 1917’s standards
Conduct effective pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities
Ensure proper staffing levels and scheduling throughout the season
Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations

Guest Experience & Hospitality

Champion exceptional service and hospitality throughout every shift
Ensure guests receive prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service
Maintain a strong presence throughout the restaurant and connect with guests
Ensure food, beverage, and service standards are consistently met
Help create the welcoming atmosphere and memorable experiences 1917 is known for
Oversee the successful execution of special events and private parties

Restaurant Operations

Ensure opening, closing, sanitation, and daily operating procedures are followed
Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, and restaurant appearance
Oversee inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and product availability
Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and FOH leadership to maintain smooth operations
Ensure menus, pricing, POS systems, and product information remain accurate
Maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers
Ensure all required reports, paperwork, and operational projects are completed accurately and on time
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, company, and government regulations

Financial Management

Manage restaurant performance against sales and financial goals
Monitor labor costs and staffing levels
Manage food, beverage, and supply costs
Maintain accurate inventory and purchasing systems
Monitor comps, waste, and other controllable expenses
Ensure accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Work with QuickBooks and other financial/administrative systems as needed
