Summary: The Safety Manager – Subcontractor Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the subcontractor compliance programs. This position ensures all subcontractors, lower-tier subcontractors, and contract personnel comply with federal, state, local, customer, and company safety requirements. The Safety Manager serves as a point of contact for subcontractor prequalification, onboarding, safety observations, training verification, documentation compliance, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position requires overnight traveling and comes with a company vehicle used for company business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage safety for the subcontractor pre-qualification processes.
- Review and verify safety programs, OSHA records, insurance certificates, EMR ratings, licenses, and company qualifications.
- Verify employee certifications, training records, and telecommunications industry credentials.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific onboarding requirements.
- Maintain approved subcontractor databases and qualification records.
- Travel M-F throughout the Midwest auditing our worksites.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of safety management experience in telecommunications, utilities, construction, or related industries.
- 1+ years managing subcontractor compliance programs.
- Experience working with tower construction, rooftop work, fiber deployment, civil construction, electrical construction, or wireless telecommunications projects.
- Preferred certification in occupational safety (e.g., OSHA 30, OSHA 510/500, CHST, CSP).
Specific Duties
- Collect, maintain, and audit compliance documentation.
- Verify employee training records, certifications, competent-person designations, equipment qualifications, and safety policies.
- Monitor expiration dates and renewal requirements.
- Conduct jobsite observations and compliance reviews.
- Evaluate adherence to company and customer safety requirements.
- Verify proper use of PPE, fall protection systems, rescue readiness, lifting practices, electrical safety controls, and hazard mitigation procedures.
- Analyze injury trends, near misses, Good Catches, property damage incidents, and corrective action completion.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action development.
- Track corrective actions through completion and verify effectiveness.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
