Full Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking qualified Legal Assistants to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) in the Western District of Missouri. This position falls under the administrative support and clerical framework of the federal Service Contract Act.

We are a government contractor.

"This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)."

Basic Duties:

Provide litigation support by preparing, formatting, and assembling legal documents (e.g., motions, briefs, subpoenas, and complaints).
Maintain, organize, and track physical and electronic case files within agency databases.
Review, verify, and index legal correspondence and incoming evidence.
Perform legal research, retrieve case citations, and cross-reference legal authorities.
Assist attorneys with calendar management, deadline tracking, and trial preparation materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or criminal justice is highly preferred.
Experience Level: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience performing litigation support or legal administrative duties.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard document management platforms.
Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen and successfully pass a comprehensive Department of Justice (DOJ) background investigation and credit check to secure an agency security clearance.
