NJM’s Commercial Lines department conducts business for policyholders and preferred agencies within the Mid-Atlantic region, specifically NJ, PA, NY, MD, DE, CT. Products include Commercial Auto, G/L, Workers Comp, BOP, Excess/Umbrella, and Package. The Commercial Lines function encompasses Underwriting, Sales, Operations, Premium Audit, Product Management, Product Development, Loss Prevention and Business Process Unit.

The Commercial Lines Loss Prevention team is searching for a Loss Prevention Representative ( can be filled at the Senior Level based on experience). The goal of the Loss Prevention Representative is to assist our policyholders in the process of identifying, quantifying, eliminating, or reducing the risk of loss. This is a senior level position that will entail training and mentoring of staff.

** This position does not provide a company vehicle but NJM does reimburse for mileage and tolls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential functions of this job are listed below in order of priority. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential duties. Regular and predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of the job.

Conduct on-site loss control surveys and underwriting evaluations to assess potential hazards for our policyholders and agency partners
Conduct accident investigations
Prepares loss control reports and sends recommendations to policyholders to help them improve potential risk factors
A knowledge of workplace safety
An understanding of nationally recognized standards and codes
Develop, enhance and present training programs in the area of loss prevention
Communicate loss prevention services available to policyholders and agency partners
Will be responsible for mentoring loss prevention representatives in the department
May act on behalf of the loss prevention supervisor in their absence
May train other loss prevention representatives on conducting site evaluations, training, or other loss control services

Required Qualifications and Experience: Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

6+ years of experience in loss control including Industrial Hygiene
Air sampling and noise monitoring experience
High School Diploma/GED Required
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Ability to work in a team environment or independently
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented
Excellent analytical and decision making skills
Experience with laptop computers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Safety experience is required
Loss Control and Safety Experience in the Insurance Industry (Workers’ Comp, Commercial Auto, Property and/or General Liability)
This position is the field and requires regular travel throughout the Central NJ area and on occasion to surrounding states.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
OHST (Occupational Health and Safety) Certification Preferred
ARM (Associate in Risk Management) preferred
ASC (Advanced Safety Certification)

Pay: $88,176.00 - $135,000.00 per year
