Join the heart of TOUS les JOURS, an authentic French-Asian bakery! We are seeking a skilled and passionate Experienced Baker to join our team at upcoming Downers Grove location. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in cake decorating, food preparation, and pastry artistry while delivering exceptional customer service. As an experienced Baker, you will be instrumental in creating visually stunning baked goods, managing food handling processes, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety. Your culinary experience will contribute to crafting delicious treats that delight our customers and elevate our brand’s reputation.

Note: This position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional baking experience.

Duties

Prepare a wide variety of breads, pastries, and doughs from scratch following TOUS les JOURS’ specific recipes and high-quality standards
Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling procedures and maintaining a clean, organized workspace
Monitor baking processes to ensure consistent quality, texture, and golden-brown perfection.
Package finished products efficiently for retail or catering purposes, ensuring freshness and presentation quality
Assist in food production processes, including mixing, baking, and assembling products in accordance with health regulations
Ensure every item meets our strict standards for presentation and taste before it reaches the shelf.
Support kitchen operations by maintaining inventory levels, rotating stock, and ordering supplies as needed
Work closely with our Kitchen Manager and assist in coordinating with kitchen helpers to maintain an efficient workflow.
Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers, answering questions about products, and offering recommendations

Skills and Experience

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional baking experience in a commercial bakery or professional kitchen.
Technical Skill: Advanced understanding of dough handling, fermentation, proofing, and temperature control.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques across various culinary disciplines
Familiarity with kitchen equipment, and food safety standards to ensure high-quality production
Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as bakeries or catering kitchens
Knowledge of food industry regulations related to hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be dependable for early morning shifts, weekends, and holiday rotations.
