Full Job Description

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) / Enrolled agent (EA)

Job Type: Full-Time
Work Location: In Person
Location: Arden-Arcade, Sacramento, CA
Compensation: $67,200 –$134,400per year

TaxMax Services is seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant to join our growing tax and accounting firm. This is a full-time, in-person position at our office in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and dependable CPA with strong individual and business tax experience. The selected candidate will prepare and review tax returns, provide practical tax guidance to clients, research tax matters, and assist with complex federal and California filings.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review federal and state individual income tax returns
Prepare and review partnership, S corporation, and corporation tax returns
Work with Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S
Prepare and review amended and prior-year tax returns
Provide year-round tax planning and tax-saving recommendations
Research federal and California tax issues
Review financial statements, bookkeeping reports, and supporting records
Communicate directly with clients regarding tax questions, documents, and filing requirements
Assist clients with IRS, FTB, EDD, and CDTFA notices
Identify filing errors, compliance concerns, and potential tax-saving opportunities
Review the work of tax preparers and provide guidance when needed
Maintain accurate records and protect confidential client information
Manage multiple client files and meet required deadlines

Required Qualifications:

Active CPA license in good standing
Minimum of five years of professional experience working as a CPA
Strong experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns
Thorough knowledge of federal and California tax laws
Experience with partnerships, S corporations, corporations, sole proprietorships, and rental properties
Strong analytical, tax research, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
Professional and respectful approach when working with clients
Ability and willingness to commute to our Arden-Arcade office and work in person

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a public accounting or tax preparation firm
Experience with tax planning and tax resolution
QuickBooks Online experience
Experience reviewing bookkeeping and financial statements
Familiarity with professional tax preparation software
Experience handling IRS and California tax agency notices

Schedule:

Full-time
Monday through Friday
In-person at our Sacramento office
Additional availability may be required during tax season
