Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment and systems to ensure optimal production efficiency. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems will drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced environment, supporting manufacturing processes and ensuring safety standards are upheld.

Job description:

This position reports to the Plant Manager. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, and physical. Requires ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance 4:30 am- 12:30 pm, or 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary to meet business demands.

Technician must be able to determine and perform; inspections, diagnosis, replacement, repair and scheduled maintenance of components and systems of equipment we own.

Technician’s primary responsibility shall be all material handling equipment and vehicles.

Technician’s secondary responsibility shall be general maintenance and assistance in servicing other facility resources.

Technicians are required to furnish complete set of "general mechanics’ tools" in a lockable toolbox. Technicians shall be paid a tool replacement allowance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, repair and/or replace damaged or worn parts for variety of manufacturers of equipment.
Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using electrical meters, pressure gauges, flow test equipment and calibration devices.
Perform initial inspection of unit and diagnostics including parts requisition without having missed or improperly identified items.
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools as necessary.
Hose replacement, assembly and testing.
Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine scheduled maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices to ensure all equipment meets the organizational quality and safety standards.
Read and understand operating manuals and technical drawings.
Raise vehicles and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists to inspect and repair in manner that assures company quality standards are met.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of parts, services and labor to track costs.
Submit all work/repair orders as required to supervisor for approval to ensure budgets are maintained and costs of vehicle repairs accurately reflected.
Consider innovative solutions to problems and share them with the company's leadership team.
Perform other duties as directed in a professional manner.
Perform all duties in accordance with best practices for a safe work environment
Inspect equipment for safety systems compliance.
Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
Maintain a professional and technical knowledge of equipment by attending educational workshops.
Complete all necessary paperwork.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Previous mechanic service experience in the equipment / construction industry and/or related field required
Knowledge of light duty trucks and heavy equipment
High school diploma or the equivalent
Must have your own tools
Extremely detail oriented and accurate
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Setting priorities and adapting to changing work priorities
Must be self-sufficient and driven
Meeting deadlines and schedules
Strong attendance record
General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts required. Knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred.
General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to accurately record time spent on repair orders.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor with Management and team members is essential to this position
Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Working Conditions

Majority of work is performed in a shop and outside.
Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes.

Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting (60-100lbs), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 10ft, significant stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8-12 hours day, and up to 60 hours per week.
Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 8 hours per day
Occasional use of foot/feet to operate foot pedal on equipment to test operation
Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts
Vision – Ability to see things in close proximity whether through natural or corrected vision
