Western Environmental Testing Laboratory (WETLAB) is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Elko Laboratory Specialist to join our growing team!

No two days are exactly the same, and the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting WETLAB’s clients throughout northeastern Nevada.
About the Position
The Elko Laboratory Specialist supports the daily operation of WETLAB’s Elko facility. This position combines laboratory analysis, sample receiving and processing, client communication, administrative support, and sample pickup responsibilities.
The specialist will prepare bottle kits, receive and process environmental samples, assist with wet chemistry and microbiology procedures, maintain laboratory records, communicate with clients, and transport samples from client locations. The position will also obtain and maintain required MSHA certifications for applicable mine sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and provide friendly, professional assistance in person, by telephone, and through email.
- Receive environmental samples and accurately log them into WETLAB’s Laboratory Information Management System.
- Document sample temperatures, conditions, and required receipt information.
- Measure and record sample pH.
- Scan, file, and maintain chain-of-custody documentation.
- Split, filter, preserve, package, and ship samples as required.
- Prepare sample bottle kits and supplies for clients.
- Perform microbiological analyses, including Total Coliform, Fecal Coliform, Quanti-Tray, and odor testing.
- Assist with wet chemistry and other laboratory procedures as trained and assigned.
- Complete routine equipment and microbiology quality-control activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient laboratory workspace.
- Participate in daily Sample Control meetings with WETLAB’s other locations.
- Pick up samples from client facilities, which may require driving for extended periods.
- Maintain assigned vehicles and coordinate routine vehicle service.
- Order laboratory supplies and coordinate with WETLAB Inventory Control.
- Represent the Elko office on WETLAB’s Safety Committee when assigned.
- Follow all WETLAB Standard Operating Procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices.
- Assist with additional laboratory, office, and client-service duties as needed.

Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or another science-related field; or
- A high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of customer-service experience.
Previous laboratory or LIMS experience is preferred but not required. MSHA certification is also preferred; however, the selected candidate will be required to obtain applicable certification after hire.
A valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States are required.
Physical and Travel Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving bending, twisting, grasping, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily performed in a laboratory and office environment, with occasional outdoor work associated with sample pickup and supply delivery.
Travel may include extended driving, early mornings, late evenings, overnight trips, and travel to client or mine locations.
