FIREFIGHTER EMT
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide emergency response, fire suppression and fire prevention. This is accomplished by responding to fire alarms; responding to emergency medical calls and other emergency calls; and participating in code enforcement activities. Other duties may include routine care and maintenance of grounds and property, and public education activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Respond to alarms in various fire apparatus; Operate apparatus at scenes. Perform rescue operations.

Perform fire suppression duties.

Respond to medical emergencies.

Provide emergency medical care to the level of training.

Assist in the maintenance of clean and orderly conditions in the fire station and on its grounds.

May be requested to speak and facilitate demonstrations pertaining to all aspects of fire and fire prevention.

Promote safety in all aspects of the Fire Department.

Assist with special projects as assigned.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any state by date of hire

Texas Commission on Fire Protection-Basic Structural Certified Firefighter

Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-basic or higher

Ability to obtain a Class B exempt license

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must not have any felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories

Must pass a medical exam which includes a vision exam, a physical, and a drug screening

Must be eligible to work in the United States
