Position Summary
Texas Recovery Centers is seeking a compassionate, professional, and motivated Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to join our clinical team. The LCDC will provide individual and group counseling services to adults receiving treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to helping individuals achieve and maintain recovery. This position will be responsible for providing evidence-based counseling, developing individualized treatment plans, completing clinical documentation, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to clients with substance use disorders.
- Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and identify client needs, strengths, and treatment goals.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans.
- Facilitate psychoeducational, process, and recovery-focused groups.
- Provide crisis intervention and appropriate clinical support when needed.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment interventions based on clinical needs.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Complete progress notes, treatment plan updates, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with medical, nursing, case management, and other clinical staff.
- Coordinate care and provide appropriate referrals to community and continuing-care resources.
- Assist clients with discharge planning and development of continuing-care/recovery plans.
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality at all times.
- Follow all applicable federal and state laws, licensing requirements, facility policies, and standards of care.
- Maintain compliance with applicable substance use treatment regulations, including confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, clinical supervision, trainings, and continuing education.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and provide respectful, trauma-informed care to all clients.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Program Director.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) credential in the State of Texas.
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field preferred, depending on applicable Texas licensing requirements.
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders strongly preferred.
- Experience in residential, inpatient, detoxification, or other substance use treatment settings preferred.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery principles, and evidence-based counseling practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Must demonstrate sound clinical judgment and professionalism.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a detox, residential, inpatient, PHP, or IOP setting.
- Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience facilitating clinical and psychoeducational groups.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, CBT, relapse prevention, and other evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Experience with treatment planning, discharge planning, and utilization review documentation.
