Full Job Description

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), RN/LPN, supports the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the nursing services provided at Meadows of Corsicana Rehab & Care Center. The ADON helps ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and professional standards of nursing practice.

This position serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff while promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, teamwork, and resident-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership

Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily nursing operations.
Monitor resident care practices to ensure quality outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Participate in clinical rounds and resident assessments as needed.
Support the development and implementation of care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate resident care.
Assist in managing infection prevention and control programs.
Investigate and follow up on incidents, accidents, concerns, and resident grievances.

Staff Management & Development

Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and retaining nursing staff.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to nurses and nursing assistants.
Participate in staff scheduling and staffing management to ensure adequate coverage.
Conduct skills validation, competency evaluations, and ongoing staff education.
Promote employee engagement and foster a positive work environment.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all CMS, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Assist with survey preparation and participate in state and federal surveys.
Monitor documentation practices for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
Support quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
Maintain knowledge of current healthcare regulations and best practices.

Quality & Customer Service

Promote exceptional resident, family, and customer satisfaction.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
Assist in monitoring key performance indicators, including falls, infections, rehospitalizations, and medication management.
Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally.

Administrative Responsibilities

Assist with policy and procedure implementation and updates.
Participate in department meetings and leadership meetings.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and required documentation.
Assume responsibility for nursing operations in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

QualificationsEducation

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN/LPN license in the State of Texas required.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, long-term care facility, or related healthcare setting.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and skilled nursing regulations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards of practice.
Effective leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with electronic health records and healthcare software systems.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
Ability to lift and transfer residents as needed in accordance with facility policies.
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and resident care needs.
