Full Job Description

Position Summary

A clinical/lab instructor shall be responsible for providing students with the knowledge, skills and communication techniques needed for the students to meet the courses objectives. Closely supervise and guide the students in the college skills lab, simulation activities and/or in the controlled clinical setting (hospitals, health care facility) and objectively evaluate student progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide excellent clinical and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
Evaluate the progress of students in clinical and laboratory setting, according to institutional and program requirements.
Collect, maintain, and submit accurate clinical and laboratory records.
Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
Maintain or increase competency in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies and licensure.
Provide clinical supervision at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day, evening, or weekend, at any approved clinical site.
Develop a positive relationship with co-workers, students, and clinical sites.
Evaluate inventory of instructional materials and equipment and advise the Nursing Program Coordinator and college administration on related needs.
Support the college’s mission, including the institution’s commitment to providing opportunities to students without regard to race, sex, age, income, religion, disability, or occupation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama is required.
Three years' experience in clinical practice is required.
Master's degree or higher in nursing is preferred.
Prior experience teaching is preferred.
Experience incorporating multi-media instructional techniques into a curricula including instructional technology for web-based teaching and course management utilizing the Canvas platform is preferred.
Experience with diverse student populations is preferred.

SALARY:

Salary Schedule L $30-$34 based upon the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule to be determined by the applicant’s years of applicable experience.

POSITION DEADLINE:

Continuous

Verification of experience to equal the required years for the position included above.
