NEUCO is seeking a Senior Estimator to take full ownership of project estimates from takeoff through bid submission, supporting complex gas utility and infrastructure work across New England. This role is responsible for delivering complete, accurate, and execution-ready estimates along with initial schedule using B2W and Primavera P6, including all quantity takeoffs, crew modeling, production rates, and construction sequencing. The Senior Estimator will operate independently on assigned bids, with final pricing and strategy support and review led by the Special Projects Manager. This is a full-time, in-office position, and includes participation in Pre-Bid Conference Calls and Pre-Bid Site Visits. Lead the development of unit‑price and lump‑sum estimates for utility infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
Participate in PreBid Conference Calls and PreBid Site Visits
Build fully detailed estimates in B2W (Trimble)
Perform complete quantity takeoffs from plans, specs, and IFC drawings
Obtain quotes from required vendors and subcontractors for defined scopes
Develop unit price and lump sum estimates
Deliver submission ready estimates requiring minimal rework
Develop means & methods and construction sequencing
Define crew sizes, production rates, and equipment needs
Build Primavera P6 schedules including durations, logic ties, and critical path
Prepare scope narratives, assumptions, and exclusions
Ensure alignment with contract requirements, specifications, and permits
Coordinate with Supervisors and Project Managers
Validate constructability, production assumptions, and logistics
Assist with RFP reviews, risk identification, and scope gap analysis
Support estimate updates during revisions and negotiations
Support project handoff to Operations upon award (review estimate, means & methods, pay items, assumptions, schedule)
Support initial administrative setup (job setup, initial pay requisition development)
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
What You'll Have
High School Diploma or equivalent
5+ years experience estimating civil utility construction projects such as water mains, storm drain infrastructure, sewers and other underground projects
Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and computerized cost data and systems
Solid communication skills to prepare estimates, interact with customers, and support ops
Interpersonal skill to negotiate key business strategies or significant agreements favorable to the Company, reconciling differences to arrive at acceptable solutions
