Full Job Description

Position Summary

Provides direct leadership, instruction, safety and motivation for preschool age students. The Lead teacher will lesson plan, teach and guide students in preparation for Kindergarten.

Essential Functions

1. Maintains lesson plans, attendance records and food program paperwork, etc

2. Attends staff meetings and trainings

3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers

4. Ensures no distractions or interference with the delivery of daily activities (such as but not limited to talking and/or texting on cell phone)

5. Ensures the safety and whereabouts of all children

6. Creates and implements age appropriate lesson plans

7. Ensure the cleanliness of classroom and material in classroom

8. Presides over all classroom functions (meals, bathroom, gym, music and playground)

9. Creates a positive environment conducive to child development

10. Interacts and engages with all children

11. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary

12. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment

Qualifications:

1. CPR/First Aid certified and/or willingness to obtain certifications upon employment

2. Minimum of as associates degree in early childhood or child related field.

3. Lead teacher must be at least 21 years of age

4. Experience in an early childhood setting

Physical Demands

1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs

2. Must have ability to perceive audio & visual alerts for emergency purposes.

3. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

4. Must be able to access all areas of building or off-site locations including pool areas, closets, stairwells, locker rooms, wellness center, etc

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
