Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Cooling System Design Engineer to support the design, development, and delivery of cooling infrastructure for hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data center projects. This role is responsible for designing efficient, reliable, and sustainable thermal management solutions that support mission-critical environments.
The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, equipment vendors, construction partners, and project stakeholders to develop cooling system designs that meet performance, energy efficiency, scalability, and operational requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed data center cooling system designs.
- Design and optimize chilled water, DX, liquid cooling, and air-/water-side economization systems.
- Perform cooling load calculations, thermal analyses, system sizing, and energy modeling.
- Develop HVAC layouts, piping schematics, flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and CFD/airflow analyses.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including direct-to-chip and immersion cooling.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, best practices, and resiliency requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support design reviews, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, equipment specifications, and resolve design/field issues.
- Optimize energy efficiency, PUE, lifecycle costs, and sustainability/carbon-reduction objectives.
Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, design documentation, and maintain cooling design standards.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline is preferred.
5+ years of experience in HVAC, mission-critical facilities, or data center infrastructure design.

- Experience with CFD modeling tools such as 6SigmaDCX, Future Facilities, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of liquid cooling technologies for AI/HPC workloads.
- Experience with Uptime Institute Tier standards and TIA-942 requirements.
- LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design initiatives.
- Project management experience in multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
- Experience performing HVAC load calculations and system sizing.
- Proficiency with engineering design software such as:
