Milkweed Creative + Breakfast Wine LLC is an independent restaurant group located in Kansas City, Missouri, that includes Earl’s Premier + Provisions, Bacaro Primo and Sea Capitán Cocina Costera.
We are seeking a self-motivated Restaurant General Manager responsible for the daily operational success, while ensuring a superior guest experience through a high level of hospitality and service. The General Manager must possess strong team leadership and organizational skills, joining our team of service-oriented professionals.
What we need from you:
- 3+ years of leadership management experience required in a similar establishment.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating and communicating across teams
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing food/bev and labor costs, inventory and purchasing.
- Excellent food and beverage knowledge
- Maintain a valid KCMO Food Handlers-Manager certification
- Proficiency in a variety of restaurant management computer software programs (Google Suite, Toast POS, Tock, Restaurant365 and more)

Schedule: Full-Time, varying schedule, across business hours
Management Structure: Reports to Director of Operations & Managing Partners
Core Management Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate positivity, enthusiasm, and energy for hospitality with both guests and staff
- Display commitment to volume-oriented service with precise execution through thoughtful floor leadership, reservation strategy, and overall calendar programming
- Ensure service standards and hospitality ethos are executed consistently throughout the restaurant
- Maintain visible floor presence during service, supporting teams at the door, tableside, and through clear BOH communication
- Lead all aspects of front-of-house operations, while acting as a key member of the management team influencing both operational and cultural decisions.
- Fulfill both restaurant opening and restaurant closing shifts as a General Manager
- Understand and exemplify all concept elements including culinary, beverage, and hospitality
- Consistently review operations to identify areas of growth and opportunities for improvement
- Follow and enforce all established food safety, alcohol service, health code, and cleanliness practices
Team Development & Culture
- Build, develop, and inspire a high-performing FOH team that embodies the hospitality program in every interaction.
- Hire, train, coach, develop, and mentor team members while overseeing performance management and progressive discipline when necessary, while maintaining strong team morale and following HR best practices.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily FOH operations including staffing deployment, workflow prioritization, and shift leadership.
- Create weekly schedules for the FOH management team, ensuring appropriate leadership coverage.
- Develop initiatives to continually create repeat guests, as well as recover guest experiences.
- Serve as the primary communication bridge between front and back of house to ensure smooth and efficient service flow.
- Troubleshoot operational and guest-related challenges in real time while maintaining morale and hospitality standards.
- Respond thoughtfully and efficiently to guest feedback, using insights to improve service and team performance.
- Manage responsible food and alcohol service practices with strong awareness of guest safety and allergens.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food handling, permitting, sanitation, and service regulations.
- Regularly review product quality (food, beverage, service, and facility) and seek opportunities for innovation and consistency.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to maintain alignment between FOH and BOH operations and address facility or maintenance needs.
- Oversee restaurant cleanliness, setup, breakdown, and care of the physical plant.
Financial & Systems Management
- Oversee daily financial responsibilities including reporting, cash management, and payroll processes.
- Support monthly inventory processes and strategic ordering of supplies.
- Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate partnerships as needed.
- Regularly review labor performance, sales trends, and operational costs to support financial sustainability.
- Leverage Restaurant 365 and Toast data to support decision-making around labor, scheduling, and performance analysis.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving profitability and operational efficiency.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Plan, develop, and implement strategic initiatives aligned with culinary, beverage, and hospitality goals.
- Evaluate and develop new revenue opportunities including events, programming, and partnerships.
- Communicate proactively with Managing Partners regarding staffing, maintenance, operational priorities, and team performance.
- Utilize guest feedback and performance insights to support data-driven business decisions.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by Managing Partners.
