Senior CNC Machinist / CNC Programmer

SUMMARY
Maxson Automatic Machinery Company is seeking an experienced Senior CNC Machinist / CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating large-format CNC machining centers and multitasking turning centers to manufacture precision components used in custom-built industrial machinery.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience programming with Mastercam and G-code, performing complex machine setups, selecting tooling and workholding, and machining large precision components to close tolerances. This individual will work closely with engineering to develop machining strategies, improve manufacturing processes, and produce high-quality components for one-of-a-kind machinery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program complex precision components using Mastercam CAD/CAM software.
- Develop, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize G-code programs for CNC milling and turning operations.
- Independently set up and operate large CNC machining centers including the Nicholas Correa Fenix and Nicholas Correa Norma bridge mills.
- Set up and operate the Okuma MacTurn 550 multitasking CNC turning and milling center.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications.
- Determine machining sequences, tooling, fixtures, workholding methods, and cutting parameters for maximum efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform complete machine setups with minimal supervision.
- Prove out new CNC programs and optimize existing programs to reduce cycle times while maintaining quality.
- Machine precision components while consistently maintaining close tolerances and superior surface finishes.
- Perform first article inspections and verify finished parts using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges, calipers, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Troubleshoot machining issues including tooling problems, chatter, vibration, thermal growth, and dimensional variation.
- Collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturability, machining strategies, tooling, fixturing, and overall production efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements that reduce machining time and improve quality.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and maintain machine tools in proper operating condition.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced machinists.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, apprenticeship, or machining certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Extensive experience programming with Mastercam.
- Strong knowledge of G-code programming, editing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience machining precision components for custom machinery or industrial equipment preferred.
- Experience with one-off, prototype, and low-volume manufacturing.
- Experience machining large fabricated weldments and complex machine components is highly desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands to operate machinery and measuring equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to accurately inspect precision machined components are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is performed in a modern manufacturing facility with exposure to CNC machine tools, moving mechanical equipment, metal chips, cutting fluids, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required.

Work Location: In person
