Full Job Description

We are a small manufacturer of scientific instruments that has been in business for the last 40 years. We are seeking an experienced machinist for fabrication of prototype and short run batches of parts. This is a small operation in which you would be the sole machinist working with a team consisting of design, assembly and sales personnel. Must be skilled in lathe and milling machine operation including programming and operation of a Bridgeport EZ-track mill and/or Trak Prototrak mill. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to identify and plan the most efficient process for machining projects.

This is a job for someone that likes variety and doesn't like the repetitiveness of making large quantities of the same part. We generally have parts fabricated inhouse in batches of 1 to 25. You would be working on something new on almost a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or tools

Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Machinist
- Proficient in operating milling machines and lathes.
- Skilled in using calipers and other precision measuring instruments
- Experience with programming and operating CNC milling machines
- Knowledge of tooling selection and setup for different machining operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
