Full Job Description

Horacio's Inc. is a leading custom stainless steel fabrication company located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. For over 45 years, we have built a reputation for delivering high-quality fabricated products to customers across the food service, commercial, and industrial markets. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter / CAD Designer with strong Autodesk Inventor experience to join our growing engineering team.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Drafter will work closely with our engineering, sales, and project management teams to create accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation for custom stainless steel equipment and fabricated products. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving design challenges and seeing their work come to life on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
Produce manufacturing drawings including dimensions, weld details, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
Develop shop drawings from customer specifications and engineering concepts.
Revise existing drawings and engineering documentation as projects evolve.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production to ensure manufacturability.
Assist with design improvements that reduce manufacturing time and material costs.
Maintain organized CAD files and engineering documentation.
Support prototype development and design verification as needed.

Qualifications

Required

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Preferred

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field.
Experience with custom fabrication or sheet metal design.
Knowledge of stainless steel fabrication processes.
Familiarity with weldments, sheet metal development, and manufacturing best practices.
Experience with ERP or manufacturing software is a plus.
